Ku-ring-gai Council is looking for suitable people to join its high achieving family day care scheme.
Family day care educators care for up to four children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years in their own homes during weekdays. Care outside business hours may also be offered.
Educators are self-employed and can choose whether to work part or full-time. Typically, family day care educators earn between $70,000 and $120,000 a year, depending on how many hours they work, how many children they care for and the fees charged.
The Council’s children’s services staff provide training and ongoing support. Educators are required to study for a Certificate III in childcare from an accredited provider such as TAFE as part of their registration. Educators work within a National Quality framework provided by the federal government.
Mayor Jennifer Anderson said educators were sought in suburbs across Ku-ring-gai.
“We are looking for dedicated people who are committed to providing high quality care for babies and toddlers,” she said.
The Mayor added that Ku-ring-gai’s family day care scheme was recently assessed as being in the top 20% of Australia’s early childhood education programs.
“We are keen to have people on board who will maintain those high standards of care,” she said.
